Chevrolet
Chevrolet was founded by Louis Chevrolet, a race-car driver, and William Durant founder of GM ) in 1910. Chevrolet first used its "Bowtie emblem" logo in 1913. It is said to have been inspired by wallpaper Durant saw in France. Others claim that the design was based on a Swiss Cross, in honor of the homeland of Chevrolet's parents.
The Chevrolet brand is currently undergoing a product restructuring in North America along with all other GM brands in order to fit into the turnaround efforts to rebuild GM. General Motors has recently been in development to make more fuel efficient Chevrolet branded vehicles. The Monte Carlo discontinued in 2007, is said to be replaced by the Camaro, also a coupe. At the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, the production version of the Chevrolet Spark was displayed. General Motors announced that the Spark, along with the Chevrolet Orlando, would go into production in the USA. The Orlando will be a successor to the Chevrolet SSR . General Motors will also introduce two more models: the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, a plug in Hybrid ; and the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, a model designed to replace the compact Chevrolet Cobalt. Chevrolet is starting a second generation Aveo which will be released in the Summer of 2010.
Popular Chevrolet models have included the Chevrolet Impala, S-10 Pickup Trucks and SUVs, Chevrolet 1500, 2500 and 3500 full-size trucks and vans, and the powerful Duramax Diesel trucks. The Tahoe, Avalanche and Suburban have been popular full-size SUVs, while the Chevy Trailblazer has been a mid-size solution for families. The Chevrolet Express, Traverse and Equinox round out the current product line, while the Chevy Astro Van still services families across the US.
